As a leading university in China, Tsinghua University has a long history of research collaboration and academic exchange with Israeli research institutions. In 2014, under the witness of Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong, Tsinghua University and Tel Aviv University jointly established the Cross Innovation Center (XIN Center) to comprehensively introduce the scientific innovation experience from the “start-up nation” of Israel to China. XIN focuses on advanced technology, aims to build an international scientific innovation cooperation platform by constructing a complete chain of technology transfer,and much solid progress have been made in technology transfer, innovative talent training and establishment of cooperation with international institutions, enterprises and regional governments. In addition, as the secretariat of the “China Israel 7+7 Research University Alliance” , XIN Center of Tsinghua University plays an important role in promoting bi-lateral research and technology exchange and cooperation.

On the 29th March 2016, the Inaugural Forum of Presidents of China Israel Higher Education Institutions was held by Council for Higher Education Israel, Department of Education PRC and Tsinghua University in Jerusalem, Israel. Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong attended the forum and presented a keynote speech. On this Forum, Tsinghua University, Shenzhen Pingshan New District Administrative Committee, Israeli medical incubator ALON MedTech Ventures and China Fortune Land Development Co., Ltd. (CFLD) jointly signed a strategic agreement for China-Israel innovation and entrepreneurship cooperation, aim to build a university-enterprise-government coordinated innovation model to provide better intellectual and resource support for the innovation industry.

The 2016 China-Israel XIN Forum on Medical and Life Science Innovation and Investment will be held by XIN Center of Tsinghua University and Pingshan New District, Shenzhen. With the Shenzhen International and Biotech & Health Industry Expo held the Council for the promotion of international trade as the background, the Forum focuses on medical and life science industry, introducing the resources from Israel, and is the first ever attempt to cooperate on single industry. The forum brings together decision makers and opinion leaders from excellent enterprises, Chinese investment institutions and universities of China and Israel to jointly explore key issues around innovation and cross boarder investment. This is extremely forward looking and will surely help to promote the development of the medical and health care industry. Relevant companies and capitals from home and aboard coming to Pingshan will be further help Shenzhen’s grand strategy in medical and life science field, bringing development in related finance industry and form the new model of industry led development. The significance of the forum will not be limited to Shenzhen only but will show its benefits nationally.
